1. Intelligence Test
๐ 35 Questions โฒ๏ธ 10 min
Identify the odd one out among 5 visual figures. Measures pattern recognition & quick classification.
๐ก Sample: 4 white squares + 1 black square โ find different figure.
โ๏ธ Answer: Black square (odd one)
โก ~17 sec per question
๐ฏ
2. Selective Attention
๐ 30 Questions โฒ๏ธ 8 min
Find sum of all odd numbers from a given set. Ignores even distractors โ pure focus & mental math.
๐ Example: Set: 42, 17, 23, 56, 89, 34, 71
โ Odd numbers: 17+23+89+71 = 200
โก 16 sec/question | high speed
๐บ๏ธ
3. Spatial Scanning
๐ 40 Questions โฒ๏ธ 8 min
Find shortest route between points avoiding obstacles (circles). Grid maps with alphabets.
๐งญ Format: 4 different map figures, each with 10 questions. Identify shortest path avoiding barriers.
โก ~12 sec per question | very fast
๐
4. Information Ordering
๐ 25 Questions โฒ๏ธ 10 min
Follow multiโstep instructions, add/remove symbols based on tables and rules.
๐ Example: Step 1: if figure has circle โ add X at pos3. Step2: remove X from pos1 if square. Apply sequence.
โก 24 sec per question | logical flow

5. Personality Test
๐ 35 Questions โฒ๏ธ 12 min
Situational judgement โ no right/wrong but consistency required. Railwayโoriented traits.
๐ค "When handling an emergency at station, I:
A) Follow protocol B) Assess first C) Call seniors D) Delegate tasks"
โก No minimum Tโscore | but critical
โ ๏ธ Crucial โ Qualifying Criteria (No relaxation)
โ
TโScore โฅ 42 in EACH of the first 4 batteries (Intelligence, Selective Attention, Spatial Scanning, Information Ordering).
โ Personality Test has no minimum score requirement, but inconsistency may disqualify.
๐ SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD โ all categories have SAME passing marks.
๐ซ Failure in any single battery = Disqualification from Station Master post.
๐ T-Score 42+ โ 40th percentile
๐ฏ 4/5 batteries must qualify
โ๏ธ No Negative Marking attempt all
๐ง
Memory Test
21-42 Qs 6 min
Memorize figure-number pairs (3 min study + 3 min recall). Helps improve visual memory for railway signals.
โก๏ธ
Following Directions
Grid / Table test 5 min
Navigate letter/number matrix using directional commands (โstart at row2 col3, move left 1...โ )
๐ง
Depth Perception
Hidden cubes 4-5 min
Count total cubes (including hidden ones) in 3D isometric drawings โ essential for loco / station view.
๐
Perceptual Speed
Hexagonal test 96 Qs
Match exact figure from 5 similar hexagon shapes โ focus on tiny differences.
๐ Coaching Tips โ Crack SM Psycho Test
๐น Battery-wise qualification โ train each battery separately. 42+ target mandatory.
โฑ๏ธ Time management โ Spatial scanning (12 sec/q) needs daily speed drills.
๐ง Memory boost โ picture-number association practice 20 min daily.
๐ Personality consistency โ be honest but align with railway values (safety, protocol, teamwork).
๐ข Institute Note: Use bilingual mocks (Hindi & English). RDSO releases official test patterns from "Psycho Technical Directorate". Provide full-length 165Q simulations.
๐ Understanding T-Score (Railway CBAT)
T-Score = standardized score where average (50) represents mean performance. For Station Master, cut-off is 42 TโScore in each battery.
โ๏ธ If a candidate scores below 42 in ANY of the first 4 batteries โ disqualified even if overall performance is high.
๐ก Coaching strategy: Regular sectional mocks to detect weak batteries early.
๐ T-Score 42 โ roughly 35-40% correct answers (depending on difficulty), but aim for 55-60% accuracy to be safe.
